) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Wednesday that if its interested are attacked in Ukraine it will respond with force, drawing parallels to the 2008 Georgian War.
Speaking on state run television channel RT, Lavrov accused the United States of “running the show” in Ukraine - a claim that the White House dismissed as “ludicrous”.
Lavrov repeated its call for Kiev to withdraw military units in eastern Ukraine.
Ukraine is currently clashing with armed Pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine.
Ukraine’s interim government has accused Russia of arming and commanding Pro-Russian separatists. Moscow has denied this claim.
